January 2026

Well here we are, mid January already. We are past ‘Blue Monday’, supposedly the most depressing day of the year, and now only have a short while until the nights draw out. As much as I like hunkering down by the log burner, and cosy evenings in (I’ve basically been in hibernation for all of January so far), I’m longing for some sun. I already have some VERY eager and optimistic daffodils beginning to poke their heads up in the garden, which makes me feel hopeful.

The beginning of January has been quite busy work wise. I’ve taken a break from my markets, until February, and instead have focused on creating some more artwork for my portfolio. I’m currently working on two pieces- One being an oil painting, a study of St Michael's Mount in Cornwall. The second being a little watercolour of one of my favourite views in Cirencester. Once I’ve finished this piece, it will be joining my other local scenes at the Cirencester Local Information Centre.

Cirencester in Watercolour

I was thrilled to have been asked to be the guest artist at the Cirencester Local Information Centre for the next few months. I had a lovely time setting up my artwork there at the start of the month. They also stock my local range of cards and key chains. It’s still a pinch me moment when I walk past most days with the dog and see my work hanging through the window. Pop in if you’re in the area and see a mixture of originals and prints :)

I’ve just returned from spending a long weekend visiting family down in Norfolk and was blessed with some really gorgeous weather. There’s nothing like a huge empty Norfolk beach, with the enormous sky and endless sand. I love it there. Revisiting the place that I grew up always feels like stepping back into myself. It makes me fizz with inspiration. I took some very special photos, which will of course become paintings in due course. I've already printed them off and added them to my inspiration wall in my studio, so watch this space!

Seeing as we are moving closer towards February, I've now designed 2 new Valentine’s day cards for those wonderful softies amongst us. They are available on my website here. I hope you love them as much as I do :)
