‘Halcyon’- Oil on Canvas
Hello friends,
I’ve started this blog with a photo of my latest finished (finally!) oil painting in all it’s glory.
It’s been re-christend ‘Halcyon’, which means ‘peaceful, serene and tranquil’ and often refers to a past period that was particularly happy. That sums up this painting for me. I took the original photo early one morning, whilst walking along Porthminster beach in St Ives, Cornwall. The fishing boats were bobbing along in the distance, the sky and sea were just perfect and I felt so joyful and calm.
It’s a big oil painting, 77cm by 61cm, and is yet to be varnished and framed (I’m thinking a thin white wooden frame would work for this), but I felt it needed some space on the blog to shine.
It will be listed on my website in due course, but is currently at one of my exhibitions, this one in Malmesbury, enjoying some time sitting prettily on its easel.
If you’d like to snap it up before it goes online, get in touch!
4 hours of exhibition set up = Chuffed to bits with the result!
‘Cornish Glow’ and ‘Halcyon’
‘Glorious’ and ‘Sun Shimmer’ Originals.
Talking of exhibitions, this particular one is currently up at the John Bowen Gallery, which is situated in the Town Hall of pretty Malmesbury, Wiltshire (SN16 9BZ) from Saturday 26th July until I take it down on Thursday 7th August 2025. There’s a fabulous cafe in there too, so do pop on by, treat yourself to something delicious and have a look at my work. I’ve booked the same space for next year (29th May to 18th June 2026- A date for the diaries!) as it’s a lovely neutral space.
My mini pop up Exhibition is also still hanging in the ‘Daniel Bingham’ gallery in the Local Information Centre in Cirencester, and will be there until 27th August 2025. It’s free to enter, and the space also has some gorgeous historical paintings of Cirencester through the ages.
‘Gorse Light at Godrevy’- Acrylic on canvas board.
In between exhibition set ups and finishing off other paintings and commissions here and there, I also finished this little acrylic piece- ‘Gorse Light at Godrevy’. Inspired by a walk along the South West Coast Path last April, heading towards the Hells Mouth Cafe (Yum), after hiking along the golden stretch of sands at Gwithian (See photo below of a very tired Sybil). I absolutely LOVE its vibrancy. It will be framed in a wooden off-white frame to accentuate the colours further and help them pop. It will then be listed on my website. It’s available to buy unframed too- Get in touch if you’d like it on your walls.

As always, thankyou for the support :)
